Minutes of the meeting of Bridekirk Parish Council held on Thursday 11th June 2019
Present: Mr S Dubmill; Mr R Stenson; Mr W Nixon ; Mr MD Hodgson, Mr F Armstrong , Mr M Rollison; Mr R Coy; Cllr N Cockburn Ms D Cosgrove (Clerk)

1.5.19 Apologies for absence received from, Mr I McCambridge, Mr M Buckley & Cllr J Farebrother;

2.5.19 The minutes of the meetings held on Thursday 9th May 2109 were signed as a true record.

3.5.19 Mr R Coy declared an interest in the Parish Graveyard item

4.5.19 Mr B Crosby was invited to attend the meeting with a view to future co-option

5.5.19 Accounts for payment approved

Jackson Hetherington 200 grass cutting + 179.98 notice boards refurbishment

An update was also provided regarding the proposed change of signatories to reflect the current Parish Councillors

6.6.19 Reports from outside bodies

  • Nobody present from CCC
  • Allerdale BC -Cllr Cockburn gave a brief update on the new administration at the local authority, further information will be given as they settle into roles. Discussion about the netting that has appeared in various areas, hedgehog routes and swift bricks. The B& M store appeal has now been received by Allerdale BC.
  • Cumbria Constabulary. We have a new PCSO covering the area and she has promised to send monthly reports but will be unable to attend the meetings.

7.5.19 Planning Applications -

  • No planning applications received during this period.

8.5.19 - Clerks report - Some items reported under appropriate minutes for easy access as previously agreed.

  • Mr L has written to the PC regarding a complaint he made previously. He has requested a copy of the Code of Conduct. Mr Dubmill will respond, but the letter will be brought to the next PC meeting for agreement by all following concerns by Mr L that all may not have been aware of the previous reply. It was confirmed that all had been included and in support of the previous response.

9.5.1 Flooding updates - the beck in Dovenby does appear to be lower since the works undertaken.

Culvert in Tallentire - the cameras have been put down and it has been confirmed that it has been blocked by big cobbles. It will be expensive to clear so CCC are looking at alternative solutions - possibly a ditch that can be cleared more easily.

10.5.19 - Parish Maintenance -

  • Clerk to contact J Hetherington regarding the notice boards, and trees that have come back to life.
  • Bridge repair at Dovenby has been completed and others to be assessed in August.

11.5.19 M Sport - There has been work being undertaken in the past two weeks. Track is understood to still be under scrutiny .

12.5.19 Proposed Defibrillator for Dovenby - nothing to report

13.5.19 - Cumbria Community Foundation

  • Next meeting will not take place until early September 2019.
