President Nita Eubank opened the meeting followed by Secretary Sheila Martin reading the minutes of the last meeting. Nita read the relevant parts of the County News.
The speaker for the evening was Nora Alderton, whose established business "Cherry Tree Fashions" has become successful award winning retail business. Nora and her team provide beautifully fashioned hats, fascinators and other fashion accessories, including bags, jewellery and flower arrangements. The shop, which is based on Wilson Street in Workington, is an inspiration for weddings and other events such as proms and hats for the Grand National.
Nora certainly provides a personal touch and her enthusiasm and artistic flair is evident.
Nita gave Nora a vote of thanks for her wonderful display and vision to create such colour and style.
A raffle was organised by Nora. The winners were Sheila Martin, Evelyn Varty, Cath Bell and Heather Walker.
The competition, a decorative bag was won by Kath Palmer.
The quiz was won by Ann Lister, with Pat Harper in second place.
The main raffle was won by Mary May.
