Tallentire is a farming and residential village, one of the few villages in the area still to have a pub. This is a free house run by Ray Seavers and his wife Monica, who moved to the Bush Inn at Tallentire in 2005, from the award winning White Bull, Great Eccleston, Lancashire. Contact Telephone 01900 823707 for meal bookings. The Bush always has a range of interesting real ales on sale, and a search of the internet under 'Bush Inn Tallentire' will reveal several reviews. Please take care to check that the results of a search refer to the the Bush inn in Tallentire, and not to the Bush Hotel in Cockermouth.

There is some holliday accommodation in the area as detailed here.

Tallentire is a village to the north west of the parish about 3 miles north of Cockermouth. Tallentire means "land (or world)'s end" in old Cumbrian.

Budget cuts have led to bus services being largely withdrawn in the whole area. Some published timetables cannot be relied on. More information is available here
